Very few contemporary documents exist that tell us about Tituba’s background. WebTituba was a strange person in a strange culture, one much more suspicious of her ethnicity and culture than what she was used to in Barbados. She was a useful scapegoat when the children of Salem became afflicted with strange symptoms and found themselves in way over their heads with their involvement in satanic rituals.
